Carmen Phelps (PhD George Washington) has written on race, sexuality, and performance in writing, new media, and popular culture. Her articles and reviews have appeared in African American Review, Callaloo, and the Journal of Lesbian Studies. She teaches surveys of African-American literature and courses on single authors, including Richard Wright, Zora Neale Hurston, and Langston Hughes.
